Checklist for a good donation
Check the WWW of your donation
Are you planning to donate a knitted or crocheted item to someone affected by homelessness? Please check that the item is suitable by following the info graphics in this page.
Warm
Did you know that most of the people affected by homelessness are forced to stay out during the day even if they have emergency accommodation? Wearing something very warm is essential. Ensure that the material used to make the garment is warm enough. Cotton, linen or other light weighted materials are not suitable.
Wearable
Check that the garment is fitting, comfortable, not too tight or too loose. Take special care in making the cast on and bind off edges stretchy.
Wind Proof
Wind should not pass through the garment. It is not recommended to knit or crochet items with holes or lace style. Fabric has to be dense and tight. If necessary, the item can be lined with wool or fleece fabric.
