Requirements for donation of yarn
It is important to make sure that the materials we use to make the handmade donations have good quality and are suitable for the majority of the people we assist.
We invite you to read carefully the recommendations below if you are planning to make a donation of yarn. Many thanks for your collaboration!
Yarn Weight
We are able to accept DK, aran, chunky.
We can’t accept thread, lace, fingering, super bulky, ruffle/bubbly/pom-pom.
Yarn Color
We can’t accept sparkly/glitter, baby colors (pastel blue, pink, green), white.
Yarn Fiber composition
We accept any blend of animal fiber and acrylic.
We can accept 100% acrylic if it is good quality yarn (no Tiger yarn, no piled/untwisted/color bleeding yarn).
We cannot accept chenille, velvet, natural fibers (cotton, linen, bamboo, etc...).
Yarn Quality & Hygiene
We only accept clean, untangled and neat yarn (into a ball, cake or skein).
We can’t accept frogged yarn and yarn barf.
If the yarn has a bad odour or it is contaminated with pets hair we can’t accept it.
Please check very carefully for any sign that may indicate the presence of moths (damage, larvae, eggs, cocoons, moths).
HOW TO DONATE YARN
It is important to place the yarn into sealed bags which can be wiped and disinfected.
Please do not deliver a donation into paper or plastic shopping bags.
